The Leonardo is a science, technology and art museum for families and children in downtown Salt Lake City. FLIGHT is the Leonardo Museum's first large-scale, permanent exhibition. In 2015 our friend's at Atlas Architects approached us about an art piece for their amazing new retail development in Salt Lake's desperately underserved Central 9th neighborhood. We jumped at the chance.
Water Witch is the brain-child of three giants of Salt Lake City's bar and hospitality scene, Sean Neves, Scott Gardener and Matt Pfohl. This neighborhood joint subtly embraces the weird, the wonderful and peculiar history of the great state of Utah.
Upon our first meeting, we concluded that this was to be their workspace, not precious or pretentious. But rather a workshop as well as a neighborhood bar where they would almost never have to turn their backs on their valued customers.
The 'Water Witch' was a sailboat Brigham Young owned on the Great Salt Lake in the 19th Century to shuttle his secret booze from a wildcat mining town at the north end to the south for his consumption. Obviously, water witches or divining rods refer to water divining and treasure digging as well. That kind of folk magic looms large in the foundations of Mormonism, which is also in the bones of the bar.
WOW Atelier approached CSB about providing some detailing design and finishes for the fast casual Asian restaurant Riced in South Jordan, Utah.
We recently entered a public art submission for the new George S and Delores Dore Eccles Wildlife Education center being built on the edge of the Great Salt Lake. We were awarded the commission, which will be built in 2018.
The Modern West Fine Art Gallery is the creation of Salt Lake City art maven Diane Stewart. Be-WOW Atelier invited CSB to participate in the rapid turnaround from a bike shop to a top-of-the-line contemporary western art gallery. We proposed a multi-tone, hand stained, turquoise, herringbone floor which resulted in a spectacular punch of color.
CSB partnered with an aircraft services company to create Skyforge Industries. We dug into their vast cache of commercial jet parts to create minimal, honest furniture pieces that show the utilitarian beauty of the retired parts. These examples are some of the ideas and the first prototype.
For the second year in a row, CSB was invited to create Airbnb's Haus venue at the 2015 Sundance film Festival.
CSB and Greg Walker of Be-WOW Atelier co-created Airbnb's smash hit Sundance 2014 venue, the Airbnb Haus. A stunning victory with long odds, (the building was in shambles) ...on a short turnaround no less. But CSB embraced every challenge to make the Haus one of the most talked about venues at Sundance that year.
Climbing with Tigers is the magnificent brainchild of Dallas Graham. It started as a project wherein Dallas would co-write, illustrate and publish a book with a terminally ill child in every state, and in this particular circumstance it grew into a stage play produced by the Salt Lake Acting Company and Flying Bobcat theatrical Laboratory

IN 2015 CSB was asked by our friends at the Utah Film Commission to create their venue for the Sundance Film Festival. As Utah is the host state of the Film Festival, and we are welcoming the world into our home, we came up with The Living Room, a Wes Anderson style, cozy living room imagined as a deconstructed film set where our guests would feel at home.
In an ongoing idea, CSB entered a call for artists for the Gateway Mall in Salt Lake City. There were multiple areas for which the Mall was seeking different ideas. Our idea was to create a vision for ALL the spaces.

In 2016 we paired up with our friends at the Utah Film Commission again to design and build their Living Room venue for the Sundance Film Festival. The idea for 2016 was to provide some fun and some social media moments. This 3D postcard was a hit, complete with an old winding camera and props for making a film in Utah.
CSB was approached by the owners of Church Public House in Park City, Utah to help design their large restaurant bar. There were only a couple months before opening so we had to move fast. We ganged up with Andrea Beecher of Meld Design to help us knock it out.
