Tis is a suspended Snowbird logo rendered in layered pieces of brass and copper.
We love the texture of burned wood. So we proposed burning plans and then applying multiple lacquer coats.
Here is a proposal for the burnt wood idea.
Granite is abundant in Little Cottonwood Canyon, the location of Snowbird Ski Resort.
This is the Snowbird logo rendered in textured granite blocks, bored through and stacked on steel rods.
As there is a river that flows through the canyon, we also considered gathering deadfall and debris from the river to make another 3D assemblage.
Here we proposed suspending a collage of whitewashed deadfall.
Returning to the burnt wood theme, this more abstract piece has stronger visual thrust, and the minor gaps between some planks would be lit inside with red LED, inferring that perhaps the fire isn't completely out.
The most iconic element of Snowbird is it's fantastic tram system. We loved salvaging some of the huge, retired cable and giving it a new life as gorgeous loops intersecting on the wall.
Here is that dreamy collage of ellipses.
